Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra

The Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra is based in the vibrant city of Ostrava in the East of the Czech Republic and is one of the country’s leading orchestras, especially noted for its interpretation of twentieth century and contemporary music.

The orchestra comprises over a hundred musicians and, in addition to its full schedule of concerts in Ostrava and the Czech Republic, is regularly invited to tour abroad.  Recent destinations include New York, Seoul, Paris, Beijing and Munich.

The JPO has a long history of working with great international artists and soloists including Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann, Maris Jansons, Svjatoslav Richter, Jiří Bělohlávek, Iván Fischer, Plácido Domingo, José Carreras and Joseph Calleja.

The orchestra’s recordings have been issued by labels including Naxos, Brilliant Classics, Supraphon, Centaur, New World Records, Stradivari Classics and many others.
